2018 Women’s Lacrosse Preview

So far things have been going really well. The tempo has been good. Concentration level has been great Everybody is participating, everybody is doing everything they have to do and we’re working. Each day we’re getting a little better. I mean obviously when you have when you return a first teamer like Brianna Wilson who can pretty much at any time just dominate a game, it’s a big add and the way that Jess [Markowitz] can finish around the goal just helps us in the offensive end. And then having Emily [Bauer] and Lindsey Rzempoluch on the defensive end, who have been there for two years together this is their third year playing together it’s going to be you can’t help not having that experience, it’s great. You know, they’re doing great. We added a bunch of freshmen last year in the fall and then we got lucky, we added two mid-year transfers in Jill Mayr and Gabriella Cesaro and Gabby is gonna help us in the defensive end, Jill will help us in the midfield. Sarah Weitman. You know, Kaitlyn Meyer has been probably one of our you know we’re really excited about what she’s going to bring to the defensive end. Nora Miller if I had to right now give out a most improved player award, it would be Nora she’s like light years different from last year to this year. It just says that people think we’re the seventeenth best team in the country right now I don’t put much stock in what teams say where we should be in the beginning of the year it’s where we are at the end of the year and you know what we do and that’s all I care about Well number one we’re playing Florida Tech who if you want to go on preseason rankings is seventh. We’re playing Stonehill which is seventeenth in the new IWLCA rankings. Then New Haven, so I mean we have we have a pretty challenging non-league schedule. and you know we feel our conference is really good and it’s booming and next to the PSAC, not the PSAC, next to the NE-10 we feel we’re confident in our abilities in what we’ve got in a conference so we feel strong about it. Well I mean listen, every game is a war and last year, you know we found that out we ended up tied for fourth and because we lost a game we ended up on the outside looking in. This year there’s six teams I don’t want to just be five or six. I want to be you know one, two, three, or four, that’s where I want to be. I don’t want to be the fifth or sixth place team, that’s where we belong, up top. So you know, we’re going to have a tough road we have to play [LIU] Post, we have to play Tech, Mercy, who I think is the best team by far in the conference. You know, I have the utmost respect for all three of those teams and then some of those other teams have been have shown that they can play lacrosse so if we don’t play on that given day we play them, then we’re in trouble. We’re just looking forward to it, we’re very excited. Potentially, this could be one of the best best groups we’ve had come through the program we’re hoping we can do we can do the conference and the Molloy community very proud.
