So one of my favorite events here at UL Lafayette
is a Lagniappe Day. It’s a whole day set aside for students to
basically enjoy the Cajun culture and Cajun life. We have a 20,000 pound crawfish boil here
for the students. But it’s is a really cool campus event and
helps brings the culture of the Lafayette community into UL. So another event that I really enjoy is homecoming. It’s huge, thousands of Raging Cajuns come
and support their team. Seen everyone wearing red, I’m just really
yelling and cheering on the football team. It’s really awesome. The majority of events here are free to students. All they need is just a swipe of their Cajun
Card. Our rec center, located in Bourgeois Hall,
holds many different rec sports for students, such as seven on seven football, basketball,
flag football. I know they have volleyball as well. They also have water skiing, if you’re interested
in that. It’s a great way to participate in a team
sport without having to be on an NCAA team. Our rec center it’s fantastic. It has a beautiful gym, beautiful basketball
courts, but not just inside but outside. They also have a lap pool, a lazy river, a
hot tub and beach volleyball. There’s also free classes that students are
available to take, jujitsu, yoga, Zumba. Just a lot of different fitness stuff to get
involved with.
