How To Forehand Drive & Backhand Chop in Table Tennis | Olympians’ Tips

FOREHAND DRIVE To drive well, first, you need to lower
your centre of gravity. Move your weight to the right and then shift it to your left
as you swing through. TIP 1: LOWER YOUR CENTRE OF
GRAVITY AND MOVE YOUR WEIGHT FROM ONE LEG TO THE OTHER
AS YOU SWING THROUGH To put a lot of
spin on the ball you should relax and rotate your body fully. TIP 2: TO ACHIEVE MAXIMUM SPIN
ON THE BALL, ROTATE YOUR BODY FULLY It’s important
you loosen up after impact but even I struggle
to do that sometimes. There’s a little training drill
I do to help with that. Drop your bat
and grab it immediately. Start with something light,
and as you get better, you can move on to something
heavier, like dumbbells. This drill will
help you loosen up and it’s important for
all table tennis techniques. Do this drill as often as
you can. Maybe every day. BACKHAND CHOP This time, I’m going to
teach you backhand chop. Firstly, take your bat
back above your head and only use force at impact. TIP 3: TAKE THE BAT
ABOVE YOUR HEAD AND ONLY USE FORCE AT IMPACT Transfer the power
accurately at impact without moving your elbow
around. When you deliver the power
accurately with steady elbow, you’ll be able to
put more backspin and make it difficult
for your opponent. TIP 4: TRANSFER POWER
ACCURATELY AT IMPACT WITHOUT MOVING YOUR ELBOW
AROUND I hope you practise a lot so you can be more successful
in playing table tennis. Thanks for watching. HOW TO…
