Howard CC vs Nassau CC (2019 NJCAA Men’s Lacrosse)

(Dramatic music plays) Juco lacrosse. Top-four matchup between fourth-ranked Howard
and the top-ranked Nassau Lions. Howard, 7-2 overall, Dragons enter the game
on a four-game winning streak. Howard’s coming off of its biggest win of
the season. Nassau, 9-1 overall, Lions are favored to
win the national title. Nassau enters with a 2-0 record against teams
currently ranked in the top-four. In each of those wins, over Harford and Onondaga,
the Lions defense surrendered six goals or less. First quarter, early lead for Nassau. Bobby Solomon working against second-team
All-American long pole Brian Schaefer. Solomon wins this battle. Ties the game. Nassau’s extra man unit takes the field. Liam Muldoon attacks before they can get settled-in. Lions reclaim the lead. Another one of Nassau’s returning all-Americans
from last year, Justin Roderka gets the attention of four defenders, and moves it to Muldoon
right in front. Lions score three unanswered More Muldoon, impressive play to get above
goal line extended with his hands free. The number one team in juco, looking the part. 4-0 run over the last seven minutes for Nassau Taylor Jensen wins the ball, attacks the unsettled
situation, Tim Russell blocks the high to low shot. Huge stop to help the Dragons regroup and
get their legs under them before it’s too late. Second quarter, Drew Goode, Jeremy Sforzo,
hits Jack Watsic. Goalie got a piece of it, but Watsic, with
enough pace to end an 11-minute scoring drought for Howard. Muldoon and Roderka are giving the Dragons
defense all sorts of problems. This time, it’s Muldoon who catches the
defense ball watching, and Roderka does the rest. Tremendous catch and finish from the NJCAA’s
leading goal scorer. Lions have scored two unanswered, Howard now
trials by 5. Gabe Leonard. Drew Goode, pushing the pace, Goode moves
it to a wide open Colvin Prosser on the crease. Scores! Dragons fire back Excellent passing and movement from Nassau. Robbie Connors with the finish. Lions offense, scoring at will. Roderka stands tall in the pocket and 7 goal
lead. Ensuing face-off, Nassau’s man-up, exceptional
passing and movement in transition. Lions score four unanswered, extending their
lead to eight goals. Howard, trying to win this possession, superb
awareness from Watsic. Sees Solomon open and he gets him the ball. But Nassau, would continue to bring pressure
throughout the third quarter, outscoring the Dragons 6-2 in the third to build an insurmountable
lead. Lions take down Howard. 19-11 is your final.
