Scotland vs Japan match on as Rugby World Cup officials give Typhoon Hagibis all-clear

The Rugby World Cup Pool A match between hosts Japan and Scotland will go ahead after an inspection of Yokohama International Stadium in the wake of Typhoon Hagibis  The game is due to be played in Yokohama on Sunday at 11:45 BST, but following the cancellation of the New Zealand v Italy and England v France matches which were scheduled for Saturday it was feared the Japan v Scotland match would most likely go the same way  World Rugby carried out an inspection of the International Stadium Yokohama at 22:00 on Saturday and have given the game the all-clear  Scotland need to win the game by four more points than Japan to progress to the knockout stages  Prior to the announcement Scottish Rugby said they believed they would have a legal case against the game’s governing body had the match not taken place  Chief executive Mark Dodson said: “We don’t want to get in some sort of legal arm wrestle with World Rugby, but our view is it doesn’t sit right with us, we don’t feel it’s just, we feel there’s other ways  “I think most people feel that if it had been an economic powerhouse – let’s say New Zealand – perhaps more thought would have been given to a flexible approach ”  The first quarter-final in the tournament is due to take place on Saturday, October 19 in Oita, with England set to take on Australia unless Uruguay spring a shock by beating Wales on Sunday
