Texas A&M Rec Sports Video 2016

Howdy Ags! Welcome to the Student Recreation Center, your destination for everything fit and awesome. With more than 490,000 square feet of recreational space, there’s something here for everyone at Rec Sports. Let us be your tour guides! The first thing to remember when coming to the Rec is to never forget your student I.D. The Rec is already included in your student fees, so all you need to bring is this magic rectangle right here. Our current gymnasium space can be used for a variety of options, including indoor basketball, volleyball, badminton, or soccer. Stop by our equipment desk located in the downstairs lobby for any of your equipment needs. Recreational and competitive intramural sports happen throughout the semester, with activities like softball, volleyball, soccer, and much more. Whether you sign up with a team or use our free agent program, intramural sports offers everyone a way to compete and have fun. Also, intramural sports employs over 200 students at $9 an hour. Ever heard of racquetball, handball, or squash? If not, don’t fret. We have 14 courts, and you can call member services to reserve one. And don’t forget to wear your protective eye care. To work out in the weight room, all you need is a towel and appropriate attire. You can store your belongings in one of our Digi-Day lockers. Our fantastic strength and conditioning staff are always on hand to help you out, give you a spot, and offer great exercise advice. I’m on a treadmill! We’re on bikes! I’m lifting weights! I’m doing abs! Need help meeting your fitness goals? Let some of our nationally certified trainers help develop a program for you! From the beginner, to the experienced athlete, these guys have the expertise to help create the best version of you! Does water suit your fancy? Our aquatics program offers several classes, such as adult learn to swim, Master’s programs, scuba, and more. You can also look on our website so see available swimming hours of our Olympic-sized 50-meter pool, our dive well, instructional pool, and coming soon, our indoor lap pool. Our indoor running and walking track, located on the 3rd floor, measures about a quarter of a mile per lap, making it easy to track your distance. So, whether you’re training for a 5K, or trying to burn off all of those cookies you’ll eat at Sbisa, the track is a perfect place to train. Have you ever wanted to try rock climbing? Well, now is the perfect time with our indoor climbing facility open 7 days a week. Orientation classes are 4 and 7, Monday through Friday. You can also check out our bouldering wall, which is right around the corner. To get started, just drop by our Outdoor Adventures desk where you can find out information about trips and clinics throughout the semester. With over 100 group ReXercise classes, we have something for your fitness needs. We even offer boot-camp classes and specialty classes with our nationally certified instructors! Check out the member services desk for your pass today! Our body works massage studio features two massage rooms, a reception area with flat screen T.V. and soothing color and decor to create a calming atmosphere. An hour-long massage is $40, and appointments can be made from the member services desk. Stop by, and treat yourself to some relaxation. The Rec employs over 600 student workers each year, and you could be one of them too. We’re hiring in every department throughout the year, so look on our website under the “part-time employment” tab. You too, could work with the largest student employer on campus, and even adorn yourself with one of these spiffy polos! Welcome to the Penberthy Rec Sports complex. Our outdoor facilities have natural grass and artificial turf playing fields dedicated to drop-in recreation, intramural sports, and sport clubs. Check out our website to see hours of operation. So grab some friends, and enjoy the open complex! Do you love hiking, skiing, camping, and canoeing? Then Outdoor Adventures is the place for you. We offer trips and clinics throughout the semester, and a ton of rental equipment, like sleeping bags, tents, coolers, horse shoes, flag football equipment, and so much more. So stop by now, and start planning your Spring Break trip! Our sport clubs program was started in 1974. We now have over 34 student-led organizations with 230 combined National Championships. Our sport clubs teams travel state-wide, regionally, and nationally to compete against other universities, which is what sets them apart from intramural sports. From fencing, to gymnastics, and more! We have a sport club for you at Rec Sports. If you find yourself in need of a post-workout meal, stop by the Time Out Deli, serving burgers, sandwiches, and shakes to all of you hungry Rec Sports patrons. And while you eat, you can watch T.V. in our lounge area. Howdy again, Ags! We hope you enjoyed your tour of the Rec! With so many options to choose from, you can find your place here, at Rec Sports. We’ll be seeing all of you again in August. Thanks, and Gig ‘Em!
