Volleyball Opens ODAC Play With Sweep of Shenandoah

The Bridgewater College volleyball team moved
to 8-0 on the season with a 3-0 sweep over conference foe Shenandoah. The Eagles held the Hornets to a negative
hitting percentage in two of the three sets. Bridgewater took an early 11-6 advantage in
set one. Shenandoah kept the set tight and eventually
tied the score at 22-22. The Eagles dialed in their play behind back-to-back
kills from Emily Hanger and two aces from Hope Jennings to take set one 25-22. The Eagles maintained the pace of the play
in the second set, holding the Hornets to only 14 points. Rachel Gaston put down five of her nine kills
during the second set. The Eagles capitalized on the Hornets mistakes,
but also made great plays of their own. Sarah Kerns recorded two kills in the final
two points of the match to give Bridgewater the 25-14 set win and 3-0 sweep.
